ROCK GOSPEL: THE MIDDLE

ROCK GOSPEL: The Middle  By Jimmy Eat World Songs Jesus Sings to Me Hey, don't write yourself off yet It's only in your head, you feel left out Or looked down on Just try your best Try everything you can And don't you worry what they tell themselves When you're away It just takes some time Little girl, you're in the middle of the ride Everything, everything'll be just fine Everything, everything'll be alright, alright Hey, you know they're all the same You know you're doing better on your own So don't buy in Live right now Just be yourself It doesn't matter if it's good enough  for someone else It just takes some time Little girl, you're in the middle of the ride Everything, everything'll be just fine Everything, everything'll be alright, alright Hey, don't write yourself off yet It's only in your head, you feel left out Or looked down on Just do your best Do everything you can  And don't you worry what their bitt...

ROCK GOSPEL: SHINE LIKE IT DOES

ROCK GOSPEL: SHINE LIKE IT DOES  By INXS A Song About the Light of Christ This is the power Since time began Every single hour That we have known And from each moment All that is left Sleep of the innocent Just one desire Shine like it does Into every heart Shine like it does And if you're looking You will find it This is the story Since time began There will come a day When we will know Shine like it does Into every heart Shine like it does And if you're looking You will find it. *** There's nothing really profound about these lyrics. They are simple and beautiful and hopeful. When I listen to it, I feel the fellowship of suffering, comfort, and hope. Combined with the music, the words evoke a mood of bittersweetness– perhaps the singer is struggling and hoping for better times; looking for light in a dark world. Well, GOOD NEWS! The light is inside of every one of us, lit by Our Creator, emanating from His divine source.  “For the word of the Lord is truth, and whatso...

ROCK GOSPEL: BUDAPEST

ROCK GOSPEL: Budapest By George Ezra Songs I Sing to Jesus My house in Budapest My hidden treasure chest Golden grand piano My beautiful Castillo For You, you, I'd leave it all My acres of a land I have achieved It may be hard for you to Stop and believe But for you You, I'd Leave it all Give me one good reason Why I should never make a change And Jesus if you hold me Then all of this will go away My many artifacts The list goes on If you just say the words I'll up and run Oh, to you You and leave it all Give me one good reason Why I should never make a change And Jesus if you hold me Then all of this will go away My friends and family They don't understand They fear they'd lose so much If you take my hand But, for you, I'd lose it all Give me one good reason Why I should never make a change And Jesus, if you hold me Then all of this will go away… *** This song reminds me straight up of the story of Jesus and the Rich Young Man found in Mark 10:17-27. I don...

ROCK GOSPEL: HEAT ABOVE

ROCK GOSPEL: Heat Above   by Greta Van Fleet  Sorrows of the Earth  May our tears of rain wash down to bathe you This is what life is worth  When the fires still burn and rage all around Can you hear that dreadful sound?  Fire still burning on the ground  Follow the fearsome sound  As they march to battle, hear the drums pound We do not fight for war  But to save the lives of those who do so  Can you hear that dreadful sound?  Fire still burning on the ground  Can you feel my love?  Rising with the heat above  Life's the story of  Ascending to the stars as one  Marching across the land  Is a peaceful army joining the band  Walking hand in hand  To an anthem loudly sung where they stand  Can you hear that dreadful sound?  Fire still burning on the ground  Can you feel my love?  Rising with the heat above  Life's the story of  Ascending to the stars as one *** ...

ROCK GOSPEL: SOLSBURY HILL

SOLSBURY HILL by Peter Gabriel Climbing up on Solsbury Hill I could see the city light Wind was blowing, time stood still Eagle flew out of the night He was something to observe Came in close, I heard a voice Standing, stretching every nerve I had to listen, had no choice I did not believe the information Just had to trust imagination My heart going "Boom-boom-boom" "Son, " he said "Grab your things, I've come to take you home." To keep in silence I resigned My friends would think I was a nut Turning water into wine Open doors would soon be shut So I went from day to day Though my life was in a rut 'Til I thought of what I'd say Which connection I should cut I was feeling part of the scenery I walked right out of the machinery My heart going "Boom-boom-boom" "Hey, " he said "Grab your things, I've come to take you home." When illusion spin her net I'm never where I wanna be And liberty, she pirouette When I...

Rock Gospel: A Crazy Little Habit

I've been mad about music as far back as I can remember. It has been my love language-- well, my everything language-- ever since my ears and brain started working.  I also really love Jesus and His restored Gospel, and over the years my brain has combined these two great loves by finding Gospel messages in Rock/Pop songs. I recently started to record some of these impressions and thought it might be fun to share them-- old school, on a blog!  All throughout scripture and even through living prophets, we are encouraged to record and share where we find God in our lives. I know He's all over the place for me, but I think finding Him in music is a fun and sacred place to write about. So come Rock out with me here on Rock Gospel.
